Industry: Special-purpose machinery

“thyssenkrupp Automation Engineering is a reliable partner for its customers, with a clear focus on quality and innovation. Our aim is to solve complex automation tasks quickly, simply and robustly, and to offer our customers outstanding value for money combined with high quality.

To be able to offer excellent functionality and quality at an attractive price, we must continually question existing solutions and optimise their costs sustainably. To make this even more efficient and effective in future, we wanted to trial and establish the methodological approach of Value Analysis in our company.

When introducing the method, it was important to us to work with a consultancy that has the flexibility to respond precisely to our specific problems and to develop an individual solution strategy for our company together with us.

In special-purpose machinery, there is often very little time between preparing the quotation, awarding the contract and initiating the project through to implementing it. For this reason, we initially had serious doubts as to whether a cross-functional development process using Value Analysis methods could be applied effectively within such a short time window.

We approached Mr Marchthaler of Value Coaching Marchthaler, an expert in Value Analysis and Value Engineering, with this issue.

We started several pilot projects, led by Mr Marchthaler, to reduce the manufacturing costs of a customer project sustainably and to create additional benefits for the customer. We were surprised by the potential that could be identified through the structured analysis along the functions and through a cross-functional perspective.

We were fascinated by how persistently Mr Marchthaler kept bringing our team back from detailed technical discussions and focusing it on the essentials.

In summary, we are very satisfied with the project results and are currently planning a further project with Mr Marchthaler.”
