Manfred Jansen honoured at the VDI Value Analysis Conference 2025 in Meinerzhagen. Manfred Jansen received the VDI Honorary Plaque for his many years of voluntary commitment to Value Management and Value Analysis.

At the 24th VDI Value Analysis Conference, held on 20 and 21 May 2025 in Meinerzhagen, Dipl.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. Manfred Jansen was awarded the VDI Honorary Plaque. The conference brought together experts in Value Analysis and Value Management at OTTO FUCHS KG.
The honour was presented by Dr.-Ing. Jörg Marchthaler as Chair of the VDI Value Management and Value Analysis Division. With it, the Division recognised Manfred Jansen's long-standing commitment to the further development and dissemination of Value Analysis.
Long-Standing Commitment to Value Analysis and Value Management
Over many years, Manfred Jansen has helped shape Value Analysis both in industrial practice and through his voluntary work within the VDI. Professionally, his roles at Schaeffler Technologies included Director Value Analysis, Cost Analysis and Methods. The VDI honour recognised in particular his commitment to the Value Management / Value Analysis Division, his work as a member and chair of various committees, and his role as Chair of the CertBoard for Value Management.
The CertBoard plays an important role in the training and certification system for Value Management. Among other things, the CertBoard reviews and approves training courses for Value Management qualification. The VDI training and certification system covers qualifications ranging from VDI Value Analyst to Professional in Value Management and Trainer in Value Management.
Value Analysis by Conviction
How closely Manfred Jansen's career is linked to Value Analysis is also evident from the VDI commemorative publication “70 Jahre Wertanalyse” (70 Years of Value Analysis). In it, he describes how, already during his studies, the methodological combination of engineering and business administration led him to Value Analysis. After his first years working as a design engineer, he deliberately moved into the role of Value Analyst.
His professional work went well beyond individual projects. For example, he worked on joint Value Analysis between customers and suppliers and also shared his experience in the VDI Value Talks. He also contributed to VDI guidelines on Value Analysis.
Manfred Jansen is still listed by the VDI as a member of the Value Management and Value Analysis Division and of the Value Analysis and Sustainability technical committee.
VDI Honorary Plaque Recognises Outstanding Voluntary Commitment
The VDI Honorary Plaque has been awarded since 1948. With it, the VDI honours deserving members and volunteers. The focus of this award is therefore not on an individual Value Analysis project, but on lasting commitment to engineering, professional work and the work of the VDI.
In Manfred Jansen's case, the award thus recognises a combination that is particularly important for Value Analysis: many years of industrial experience, methodological development, knowledge transfer and voluntary work for the professional community.
“Manfred Jansen has supported and developed Value Analysis with great personal commitment over many years. With the VDI Honorary Plaque, we are recognising not only his professional work but, above all, his long-standing dedication to our shared professional community.”
